Mid- Senior Level Systems Engineer- Technical Requirements
  • Annapolis Junction, MD

Location: Annapolis Junction, MD with telework flexibility
Employment Type: Full-Time
Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph preferred or required, depending on contract requirements

Position Overview

We have an immediate need for a Technical Requirements Systems Engineer, Report Authoring and Dissemination (RAD). This role will assist with overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of a mission-critical system.

The ideal candidate is passionate about working collaboratively to solve complex technical challenges and has a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions. This position requires someone who can work closely with product owners, stakeholders, system engineers, developers, task leads, and scrum teams to gather requirements, support sprint execution, and help drive successful system delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, design, implementation, and delivery of mission-critical systems.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner and stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document functional and technical requirements.
  • Perform workflow and business process engineering to support system design and development.
  • Translate customer needs into clear, actionable technical requirements for development teams.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers, stakeholders, and the development team.
  • Help manage customer expectations and ensure requirements are clearly understood.
  • Support systems engineering activities, including requirements elicitation, analysis, functional allocation, and end-to-end flow analysis.
  • Assist with system architecture discussions, interface standards, concepts of operation, and system integration planning.
  • Collaborate with the Task Lead, Scrum Master, Systems Engineers, and Developers to support sprint planning, execution, reviews, demos, and functional testing.
  • Participate in requirements reviews, technical assessments, and system design discussions.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Document requirements, workflows, decisions, and system details using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of six years of Systems Engineering experience supporting the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of complex hardware/software systems.
  • Experience with requirements elicitation, requirements analysis, and functional allocation.
  • Experience conducting systems requirements reviews.
  • Experience developing concepts of operation, interface standards, or system architectures.
  • Experience performing technical and non-technical assessments, management, and end-to-end flow analysis.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively to elicit and document functional and technical requirements.
  • Ability to act as an expert liaison between customers and development teams.
  • Experience managing customer expectations and supporting stakeholder communication.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical details to different audiences.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with collaboration and project tracking tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with software development using:
  • Java or JavaScript frameworks
  • RESTful microservices
  • Cloud-based architecture and deployment
  • Amazon Web Services
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating the design and development of AI-driven solutions from concept through deployment.
  • Experience integrating AI-driven solutions into existing software architectures.
  • Experience serving as a technical liaison across cross-functional teams, including system engineers, software developers, domain experts, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to present and explain recommended AI approaches, including tradeoffs, risks, and implementation considerations.
  • Experience communicating AI or machine learning concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Interest in staying current with advancements in AI and machine learning.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to apply new technologies or methodologies to improve existing systems and solve complex problems.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Equivalent experience may be considered as follows:

  • Four years of additional Systems Engineering or related experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
  • A Master’s degree may be substituted for two years of experience.
