Job summary

Central Mutual Insurance Company in Lansing, MI is seeking a skilled Middle Market Underwriter to manage a defined book of middle market accounts. You will build strong agent relationships, assess risk, and set pricing to support profitable growth.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of commercial lines underwriting experience or a related degree
• Experience working with Middle Market accounts
• CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CRIS or other insurance designations preferred

Responsibilities

• Manages and underwrites assigned middle market book to achieve profitability
• Selects profitable new business after analysis of risks and coverage requested
• Classifies and prices risks using underwriting judgement and available tools
• Handles complex or larger accounts which may require reinsurance placement
• Monitors premium growth by territory and agency with profit analysis
• Identifies opportunities for book improvement and collaborates with Distribution for changes
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with agents and visits agencies as needed
