Job summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Mid-Level Transportation Engineer for its Des Moines, Iowa office. The role involves performing portions of assignments under supervision, gathering data, and solving routine engineering tasks in roadway and municipal projects.

Ideal candidates have a BA/BS in Civil Engineering with 6+ years of experience, and a Professional Engineer license (Iowa or eligible). Relocation reimbursement may be offered; onboarding occurs in person at a local AECOM office.

Qualifications

• BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Iowa or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire if current PE is out of state.
• US Citizenship is required for this role.
• Preferred: BS in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation ORD.
• 8+ years of related experience.
• Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.
• Prior experience working on Roadway and Municipal projects preferred.
• Prior experience working with the Iowa Department of Transportation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
• Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
• Identifies discrepancies in results.
• Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
• Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
• Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
