We are looking to fill the role of a Mid-level Structural Engineer for our Safety practice. The Mid-level Structural Engineer will analyze, design, plan, and create structural components and structural systems as they lead fall protection design projects for LJB clients.

Annual Compensation: $95,000-135,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

MID-LEVEL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Documents existing conditions as needed to accommodate additions of fall protection systems, including fixed platforms, fall arrest anchorages, and horizontal lifelines.
2. Analysis of building components used to support fall protection systems, including structural steel framing, cold-formed steel framing, and cast-in-place concrete.
3. Develop a layout of fall protection systems to address customer needs and coordinate with the existing structure.
4. Assists with the preparation of construction documents.
5. Coordinates with design staff to ensure accurate document and drawing production.
6. May coordinate projects by communicating with clients regarding project issues and attending meetings.
7. Responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completing various training initiatives: attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, and attending in-house systems/management training (LJB provided).

Additional Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Willingness to travel (overnight stays based on supported projects) to various US-based locations.
2. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
3. Understanding/Training in OSHA/ANSI fall protection standards.
4. Ability to pass background checks, drug tests and MVR check.
5. Other duties as assigned.

MID-LEVEL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

Education:

1. Bachelor’s degree in civil, architectural, or mechanical engineering; with structural emphasis preferred; Master’s degree preferred.
2. Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
3. Knowledgeable of industry codes and standards such as OSHA 1926 and ANSI Z359 preferred.

Qualifications:

1. 3+ years’ engineering experience possessing knowledge and experience in design of structural engineering projects, fall protection preferred.
2. CAD experience (Revit and Bluebeam preferred) RAM or other structural analysis software experience preferred.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must be able to traverse worksite in different types of weather and bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to perform duties.
2. Must meet the weight capacity of design perimeters of fall protection systems (between 130 to 310 lbs.).
3. Understands the exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
4. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time.
