Job summary

WSP is seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer (Generation) to join our Power & Energy team in Boise, ID. The role involves supporting due diligence, design, and construction of utility-scale projects, with emphasis on safety, quality, and documentation.

You will assist with data analysis, site investigations, and basic design tasks while coordinating with engineers, project managers, and field staff. Relevant software proficiency and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 1–3 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
• Familiarity with design/build concepts.
• Familiarity with structural/civil construction laws, codes, and record-keeping.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and relevant tools.
• Experience with discipline-specific design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).
• Commitment to safety and ability to work non-traditional schedules as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from sites, surveys, maps, and geotechnical data.
• Perform basic professional structural engineering work and inspections of site conditions for conformance with rules and permits.
• Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and operating strategies.
• Verify site characteristics and structural soundness under loads and environmental factors.
• Generate accurate documentation using drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and site logs.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and project procedures.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and code of conduct.
