Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• North Carolina PE.
• 5-10 years of bridge/culvert design experience.
• NCDOT bridge design experience and knowledge of NCDOT guidelines, procedures, and plan preparation.
• Thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and Manual for Bridge Evaluation.
• Experience with CAD plan development, MicroStation/ORD, Open Bridge Designer.
• Experience with drainage and hydrologic studies and bridge hydraulic design analysis utilizing HEC-RAS and HY-8.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on the analysis and design of bridges and related structures, including steel and prestressed concrete beams, concrete slabs, pedestrian bridges, culverts, retaining walls, grade separations, stream crossings, bridge rehabilitations, and design-build pursuits.
• Perform and review bridge hydraulic analyses, including HEC-RAS modeling, scour evaluations, and waterway adequacy assessments to support bridge and culvert design.
• Coordinate with infrastructure teams to ensure compliance with FEMA, FHWA, and NCDOT hydraulic design criteria and to support state floodplain permitting and documentation.
• Lead bridge projects and coordinate tasks as a bridge task coordinator, managing schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Support teams in other offices with bridge and hydraulic design tasks and plan production.
• Mentor junior engineers and perform quality control reviews of structural and hydraulic deliverables.
• Develop technical memorandums, specifications, feasibility studies, evaluations, and reports, and support proposal development.
• Other duties as assigned.
