WHAT WE NEED:

Mid-Level Piping Designer

Sigma Engineers & Constructors is seeking a Mid-Level Piping Designer responsible for creating detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for piping systems used in various industrial projects. The role involves collaborating with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure piping systems meet project requirements and industry standards. The designer will utilize CAD software and follow established engineering practices to develop accurate piping designs.

Responsibilities:

1. Create detailed designs and layouts for piping systems, including process piping, utility piping, and distribution systems, adhering to project specifications, codes, standards, and safety requirements.
2. Use CAD software such as AutoCAD to develop 2D and 3D models, drawings, and isometric views of piping systems.
3. Assist in selecting appropriate piping materials based on project needs, considering pressure, temperature, fluid characteristics, and compatibility.
4. Ensure designs comply with industry codes and standards such as ASME, ASTM, API, and local regulations.
5. Collaborate with engineers and project teams to gather requirements, review designs, and address technical challenges.
6. Prepare and maintain documentation including technical specifications, material lists, BOM, and as-built drawings.
7. Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements while maintaining safety and functionality.
8. Perform quality checks on piping designs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
9. Stay updated on industry trends, design advancements, and emerging technologies.

WHO WE NEED:

• Associate degree in Drafting & Design or at least 8 years of progressive design experience.
• Relevant professional certifications or licenses are desirable.
• Strong knowledge of piping design principles, codes, standards, and best practices.
• Familiarity with piping materials, fittings, valves, and equipment.
• Understanding of PFDs, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental considerations; familiarity with 3D modeling and stress analysis tools is a plus.
• Proven experience as a Piping Designer or similar role in industry or engineering sectors.

Skills/Abilities:

• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, CAD Worx, etc.
• Experience with laser scan software like LFM or Recap.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Problem-solving skills and innovative thinking.
