Job summary

Cosentini Associates, Inc., a Tetra Tech company, is seeking a mid-level Mechanical Engineer to join our New York team. You will design HVAC systems for diverse facilities—hospitals, labs, high-rise offices and residences—using AutoCAD and Revit, while supporting LEED and code compliance efforts.

You will collaborate with architects and project teams, perform load calculations, select equipment, and contribute to basis-of-design documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-7 years of experience in the design of HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, residential, and healthcare facilities.
• Proficient with the use of Trace 700, AutoCAD and Revit software.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
• Excellent technical skills, strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a highly collaborative team environment.
• PE registration is highly preferred in New York, or EIT with the ability to obtain a P.E. in 1-2 years.
• LEED AP BD+C accreditation is preferred.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performing complex mechanical building design on a variety of projects.
• Incorporating design changes using AutoCAD and/or Revit software.
• Assist teams in performing design load calculations, equipment selections and mechanical system design.
• Providing credit documentation for LEED, and other building rating system design and compliance.
• Assisting in the preparation of basis-of-design descriptions and client responses.
• Attend meetings with architects, owners and building managers.
• Reviewing submittals and RFIs.
• Follow internal procedures and industry standards.
• Pursue CPD and safety compliance.
