Job summary

NCS is seeking a Mid-Level Low Voltage / Structured Cabling Technician to join our DFW team. This role suits a technician with about 4–6 years of hands-on experience in low voltage, structured cabling, or related telecommunications work. You will install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain copper cabling (Cat5e/6/6A) and assist with fiber optics.

Read drawings and schedules; travel to DFW projects; uphold safety and quality. Industry certifications are welcome but not required.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of hands-on low voltage/structured cabling experience.
  • Experience with copper cabling (Cat5e/6/6A).
  • Some fiber optic experience preferred.
  • Ability to read drawings and cabling plans.
  • Certifications welcome but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems.
  • Perform copper cabling installs (Cat5e/6/6A) and assist with fiber optics.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and cable schedules.
  • Install cable pathways, trays, J-hooks, and supports.
  • Document test results and installation records.
  • Travel to DFW area projects and maintain safety.
  • Work with project managers and other trades to meet specs.

NCS is looking for an experienced Mid-Level Low Voltage / Structured Cabling Technician to join our DFW team. This position is ideal for a technician with approximately 4–6 years of hands-on experience in low voltage, structured cabling, or related telecommunications work.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and as part of a team to install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain low voltage and structured cabling systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, terminate, label, test, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems.
  • Perform copper cabling installations, including Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A.
  • Assist with installation and termination of fiber optic cabling.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, floor plans, and cable schedules.
  • Install cable pathways, cable tray, J-hooks, sleeves, and other support systems.
  • Perform cable testing and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Maintain proper cable management and installation standards.
  • Follow project specifications, safety requirements, and company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and jobsite.
  • Work effectively with project managers, supervisors, customers, and other trades.
  • Complete required project documentation, including test results and installation records.
  • Travel to customer jobsites throughout the DFW area and other locations as needed.
  • 4–6 years of experience in low voltage, structured cabling, telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Hands‑on experience with structured cabling installation and termination.
  • Experience with copper cabling systems.
  • Some fiber optic experience is preferred.
  • Industry certifications are welcome but not required.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and cabling plans.
  • Basic understanding of testing and troubleshooting low voltage systems.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including construction sites, commercial buildings, and elevated work areas.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Travel

Travel within the state of Texas is a bonus but is not required. The primary focus of this position will be projects throughout the Dallas‑Fort Worth area.
