Job description

QUALIFICATIONS

Our litigation team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced attorney to join our thriving practice. Candidates should be comfortable managing all phases of litigation on their own, including taking depositions, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and other pre-trial proceedings. Members of our team are regularly involved in high-stakes disputes in federal court, state court, and arbitral tribunals. Discover more about areas our litigation practice covers here.

Summit's all-member (equity partner) model offers attorneys the opportunity to build and control their practice while remaining part of a collaborative team. Because we operate without a traditional hierarchy, we are best suited for experienced, self-directed attorneys seeking an ownership role rather than extensive training or supervision. We are open to considering candidates without a portable book of business.

Required
  • 8-12 years of experience in complex commercial litigation and/or employment defense litigation (e.g., $5M+ business-to-business controversies in technology, finance, retail, logistics, or real estate sectors; complex First Amendment issues and challenges to the constitutionality of statutes and regulations)
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and advocacy skills
  • Demonstrated history of drafting pleadings, written discovery, and substantive motions
  • Experience taking and defending depositions, arguing motions, and appearing before courts, administrative agencies, and/or arbitration panels
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Member of the Washington State Bar and resident of the greater Seattle area, or willingness and ability to relocate and obtain Washington Bar admission within a reasonable period
  • Strong academic and practice credentials
  • Ability to work full time
Preferred
  • Judicial clerkship
  • Top 10% of graduating law school class
  • Trial experience
  • AAA or JAMS evidentiary hearing experience

We encourage candidates from underrepresented backgrounds to apply. Research shows that many qualified candidates, particularly women and people from historically marginalized groups, are less likely to apply unless they meet every qualification. We are not looking for perfection or pedigree. We value ability, good judgment, and a strong work ethic.
