Job summary

SimTech, Inc. seeks a Mid-Level FPGA Design Engineer to design, develop, test, and troubleshoot FPGA-based radar system components for aerospace/defense applications. Expect HDL-based workflows, DSP algorithm development, and hardware/software integration.

The role emphasizes Verilog/VHDL, Vivado/Quartus, and collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams; U.S. citizenship with active Secret clearance is required. Telework may be limited by project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in electrical/computer engineering or related field.
• Extensive FPGA design experience with Verilog/VHDL and HDL-based methods.
• Strong DSP concepts, algorithms, and implementation knowledge.
• Experience with FPGA tools and hardware integration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and test FPGA-based digital systems for aerospace/defense applications.
• Develop and maintain FPGA firmware using Verilog and VHDL.
• Create simulation/verification test benches to validate designs.
• Perform synthesis, timing analysis, debugging, and optimization.
• Integrate firmware with hardware, embedded processors, and software.
• Design communication interfaces (RS-232, RS-422, UART, SPI, I2C).
• Use tools like Vivado, Quartus, Synplify, ModelSim, Verdi.
• Support lab integration, system verification, and troubleshooting.
• Analyze existing designs to document architecture and reverse engineer functionality.
• Develop DSP functions: filters, FFTs, modulation/demodulation, error-correction.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, and test engineers for integration.
• Support design reviews, test plans, and customer presentations.
• Evaluate new FPGA technologies and methodologies to improve efficiency.
