Job description

E2PM is seeking qualified applicants for a Mid-Level CAD Designer/Drafter with strong drafting expertise in the A/E/C industry to provide direct support to Senior level Engineers and Project Managers in the firms Manasquan Office. Under direction of the Senior-Level Engineers and Project Managers, the ideal candidate will prepare preliminary and final design drawings with associated sections and details and must be proficient in steel, concrete, masonry, drafting, and civil/site development. The ideal candidate must have experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Software, be a self-starter with strong technical design skills, and a keen eye for detail. The role of this CAD Designer is to assist with producing high-quality, precise, and practical designs that meet project objectives, adhere to industry standards and satisfy the needs E2PM clients.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize CAD software to create detailed 2D or 3D designs for complex projects, including site maps, geological cross-sections, engineering plans, and construction details.
  2. Process and integrate land survey data into CAD models for boundary mapping and topographic site plans, ensuring accuracy for development planning.
  3. Ensure that all drawings and designs adhere to project specifications, guidelines, and regulatory standards from agencies such as NJDEP, NJDOT, and local planning boards.
  4. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and senior-level CAD designers to ensure practicality, accuracy, and alignment of designs with project objectives and timelines.
  5. Directly support senior-level staff as needed in the Manasquan, NJ office, assisting with project-specific tasks, technical guidance, and design revisions.
  6. Be detail-oriented and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring precision in all deliverables while meeting project deadlines.
  7. Revise, update, and correct drawings based on field data, stakeholder feedback, and evolving project requirements.
  8. Review blueprints, plans, specifications, and customer documentation to ensure compliance with project standards and guidelines.
  9. Prepare CAD exhibits for site plan approvals, zoning board submissions, and NJDOT permit applications.
  10. Generate reports, maps, diagrams, and exhibits for printing/plotting equipment, ensuring accuracy and clarity in all deliverables.
  11. Interpret and incorporate information from recorded maps, land grants, deeds, and other legal documents to support land development planning and project design.
  12. Ensure that all drawings maintain consistency and accuracy through quality checks for clarity and alignment with project standards.
  13. Manage CAD file organization and maintain drawing standards across multiple projects to ensure consistency and ease of access.
  14. Provide technical guidance and assistance to the team in using CAD software, ensuring best practices and efficiency in design workflows.
  15. Stay up to date on the latest design software and technology to enhance project efficiency and accuracy.
  16. Assist in the implementation of GIS or other design tools to improve project deliverables and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications:

  1. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field (Preferred).
  2. 3-5 years of related designer/drafter experience within the A/E/C industry, primarily in NJ and NY.
  3. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (Required); experience with HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, AutoTurn, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
  4. Strong technical design capabilities, including mathematics, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to review and revise designs for accuracy and compliance.
  6. Ability to work effectively within project budgets and schedules.
  7. Capabilities to work with reference files and ensure document version control.
  8. Experience in working on multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines without extensive supervision or instruction.
