Job Summary

This position is responsible for designing parts and assemblies, revising existing designs based on information from engineers, and designing project-specific templates using CAD systems to create parts and products from minimal information.

Job Description

Core Job Responsibilities:

1. Use CAD software (SolidWorks) to develop 2D and 3D designs.
2. Work independently as part of a product development team.
3. Support technical design reviews.
4. Create final sketches, check dimensions, materials, and relationships between parts and structures, including calculations of angles, weights, surface areas, and tolerances.
5. Apply knowledge of materials, engineering practices, and sciences to complete drawings and prototypes.
6. Draft detailed multi-view component drawings.
7. Update drafting and engineering standards.
8. Maintain organized files for drawings.
9. Collaborate with engineers, physicists, and manufacturing teams to optimize design and manufacturability.

Education

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from a technical school.

Experience

• At least 1 year of CAD experience.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, 3D modeling, and prototype fabrication.
• Strong design, troubleshooting, organization, and communication skills.

The salary range is $62,400 to $90,480 annually, depending on experience and location. The role is eligible for bonuses and incentives.
