Job summary

KeyLogic is seeking a Mid-Level Business Analyst to support the DOE program team at NETL. You will work with Financial Analysts, Administrators, Project Managers, and Software Engineers to define and validate requirements for enterprise web applications that support the DOE mission.

The role offers remote or hybrid work from Pittsburgh, PA or Morgantown, WV, with preference for candidates in PA and WV. Strong analytical and documentation skills are essential to map processes and translate needs

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and project teams to identify, analyze, and document business and software requirements.
• Conduct process mapping and workflow analysis to document current-state processes and recommend improvements.
• Develop detailed business process models, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation.
• Participate in software testing to validate new features and ensure they meet requirements.
• Identify, document, and track software defects and coordinate resolution with developers.
• Support Agile development activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and UAT.
• Assist in developing and maintaining user documentation, training materials, and release notes.
• Facilitate training programs to ensure users are proficient with newly implemented requirements.
• Collaborate with developers and data teams to ensure data integrity, usability, and consistency across applications.
• Participate in defining business needs for AI and cloud-based functionality, helping evaluate use cases and performance impacts.

KeyLogic is seeking a Mid-Level Business Analyst to support our Department of Energy (DOE) program team at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). The Business Analyst will work closely with Financial Analysts, Administrators, Project Managers, and Software Engineers to define, document, and validate requirements for enterprise web applications that support the DOE mission. The position can be Remote or Hybrid based out of Pittsburgh, PA or Morgantown, WV. Preference is given to candidates in PA and WV.

This position plays a key role in supporting the maintenance and modernization of DOE's software systems. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to map business processes, understand system interactions, and translate user needs into actionable software requirements.

Position Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship (This position supports a U.S. Government contract and requires U.S. Citizenship)
• Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience in business analysis, process improvement, quality assurance, training/education, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience performing business analysis or closely related functions in regulated or complex environments (e.g., public sector, healthcare, energy, finance).
• Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

Desired Experience

• Foundational software testing experience (test case design/execution, defect tracking).
• Hands-on experience with process modeling tools and workflow optimization techniques
• Ability to create clear user documentation, training content, and accessible learning materials.
• Experience with requirements and work management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar).
• Experience contributing to technical documentation, user guides, and training materials
• Familiarity with SQL or data validation techniques for supporting data-driven decision making.
