Job description

Overview

Mid-Level Audio / Visual and Computer Technician will provide consultation and recommendations on course materials and presentation design to improve the effectiveness of instruction. They will assist in the design and presentation of audio/visual instructional materials and ensure visual aids and lecture materials meet professional standards and internal organizational specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Record all JMAS lessons and manage subsequent cataloging, media library management, archiving, and media disposal in compliance with classification security guidance and DIA removable media policies.
  • Provide audio/visual end user support and troubleshoot classroom audio/visual and computer systems.
  • Provide training for instructors, staff and students on IT equipment used by the school, including classroom AV and computer systems.
  • Oversee the creation and management of JMAS student computer accounts, including account establishment, set-up, maintenance, token issuance, and troubleshooting to the extent allowed by DIA regulatory guidance.
  • Act as the JMAS liaison to the Academy for Defense Intelligence (ADI) and DIA for IT issues.
  • Oversee and manage all student and faculty laptops, non-network printers, and associated supplies; ensure systems are maintained in a fully operational status with current approved software and cleared prior to the start of each class.
  • Maintain a log of the operational status of all systems and manage timely tracking, coordination, and replacement/repair in accordance with the JMAS Media Services Plan and DIA policy.
  • As needed based on mission requirements, provide offsite IT services for a JMAS capstone exercise in Florida or alternate venues as deemed necessary by the Commandant.
  • Serve as the school liaison with the Office of Chief Information Officer, coordinating technician support for the exercise.
  • Conduct research and provide recommendations on software/hardware requirements; facilitate approval, testing, and installation of school-specific IT or AV systems.
  • Support ongoing JMAS accreditation activities through participation on accreditation committees/working groups and attendance at curriculum reviews; support COE, IACET, and other accreditation efforts as deemed critical by the JMAS Board of Governors.
Qualifications
  • Possess thorough knowledge of instructional methods in audio/visual techniques and operation of AV/IT equipment; ability to design/build JMAS presentations.
  • Ability to design, build, and maintain instructional materials to enhance learning effectiveness.
  • Skill in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining IT and AV hardware and software to ensure fully operational systems.
  • Competence in managing student/faculty accounts, media libraries, archiving, and secure disposal of sensitive materials per DIA policies.
  • Ability to instruct staff, instructors, and students in the effective use of IT and AV systems.
  • Ability to serve as the school liaison with ADI, DIA, and other stakeholders, coordinating technical support and system requirements.
  • Ability to maintain accurate logs, ensure system compliance with organizational and security standards, and support accreditation efforts.
Experience and Education
  • Minimum/General Experience: Five (5) years of experience in information technology and/or audio-visual technology; experience with military personnel in DoD environments is desirable.
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED; completion of at least four courses in related disciplines (Information Technology, AV Technology, Computer Systems, Multimedia Production, Electronics, or similar).
  • Preferred Education: Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, AV Technology, Computer Systems, or related discipline.
