Job summary

National Audubon Society in the Mid-Atlantic region seeks an Engagement Manager to expand the network of chapters and supporters across PA, MD, and DC, driving policy-aligned conservation initiatives and community engagement.

The role collaborates with regional and national staff to build capacity, train chapter leaders, and advance grassroots advocacy while coordinating with campus groups and diverse communities. Hybrid work with travel within the region is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least five years’ relevant experience in grassroots network building, public policy, or conservation.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate volunteers and partners.
• Strong communications skills and ability to explain conservation concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proven experience coordinating complex projects and meeting goals.
• Experience building diverse community partnerships and coalition-building.

Responsibilities

• Lead the ongoing development and implementation of strategies to build capacity within the Audubon chapter network.
• Develop programs and partnerships with high-capacity chapters and oversee channels of communication with regional chapters.
• Collaborate with Policy Director to develop state policy platforms for MD and PA and engage chapter networks in advocacy.
• Recruit, equip, and engage advocates and volunteers to advance conservation and climate policy goals.
• Support campus chapters and engage potential campus groups across the region.
• Organize chapter leader meetings (in person and remote) and develop networking opportunities for capacity-building.
• Work with communications staff to engage chapters and supporters through newsletters, social media, and action alerts.
