Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Student Nurse to assist in direct patient care under RN supervision on the assigned unit. You will participate in the nursing process, support assessment, and help with planning and implementing care in daily practice.

Requires current CPR certification, Maryland CNA license, and enrollment in a nursing program (BSN/ADN/Diploma). Weekend/shift work and exposure to infectious disease precautions are possible.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in good academic standing for junior or senior year of a BSN, ADN, or Diploma program in Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association CPR Provider or American Red Cross card.
• Must be licensed as a CNA in Maryland.
• Experience preferred; able to assess age-specific patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with patient assessment and planning of care.
• Provide direct patient care including hygiene, positioning, and mobility.
• Assist with admissions, discharges and equipment setup.
• Perform routine unit tasks (vital signs, intake/output, charting).
• Transport medications and navigate medication storage areas as needed.
