Job summary

The State of Oregon's Wireless Communications Section in Salem seeks a microwave system specialist to oversee, operate, and maintain the state digital microwave system supporting critical radio communications. You will manage the backend applications, networks, and databases, and coordinate with IT teams and vendors to ensure peak performance.

Required qualifications include several years of wireless systems experience, ability to work at height on towers, and a valid U.S.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of information systems experience in wireless systems (i.e., two-way radio, microwave).
• OR an associate's degree in information technology, IT or related field, AND two (2) years of information systems experience in wireless systems.
• OR a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.
• Driving is an essential function; valid U.S. driver license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical expert in microwave system administration, implementation, and maintenance.
• Manage the backend application, network, and database tools, and diagnose complex problems.
• Develop, produce and distribute software modification documents for other specialists.
• Establish operating procedures for lower-level staff and coordinate problem-solving with IT teams and vendors.
• Monitor data integrity and diagnose issues in the digital microwave network.
