Job summary

Emboss Specialty is seeking a hands-on infrastructure and platform engineer to balance today’s operational needs with tomorrow’s Microsoft-based architecture. You will navigate between operational engineering, business analysis, automation design, cloud planning, and IaC to deliver secure, repeatable solutions.

In this remote US role, you’ll own MS 365/SharePoint Online, build Power Automate and Power Apps workflows, and guide Azure hybrid deployments.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online and building or supporting Power Automate workflows and Power Apps solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience improving Azure services, cloud infrastructure, and hybrid Microsoft environments, including cloud migration and infrastructure modernization.
  • Demonstrated experience creating scripts, automation, and infrastructure-as-code artifacts that solve real business and technical problems.
  • Proven knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, identity, access control, security, monitoring, and disaster recovery principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot effectively under pressure, clearly document and communicate potential solutions, drive consensus, and create artifacts that support reliable, repeatable processes.
  • A track record of creating practical, reusable solutions that balance speed and immediate needs with longer‑term modernization goals.
  • Additional experience that could add value includes relevant Microsoft certifications and experience with Azure networking, PowerShell scripting, Power Platform and Copilot/AI governance, business continuity design and implementation across hybrid environments, and co‑location management and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve key parts of our Microsoft 365 environment, including SharePoint Online and Power Platform, ensuring services are well-designed, governed, and supported.
  • Design and build SharePoint, Power Automate, and Power Apps solutions that simplify business processes, eliminate unnecessary manual work, and make better use of the Microsoft capabilities we have and ones that we are not yet using.
  • Establish practical standards and reusable patterns for automation, workflows, governance, and solution lifecycle management. The goal is not simply to automate something once, but to create simple approaches we can confidently use again.
  • Provide technical leadership as we continue evolving our Azure and hybrid environment, assessing existing infrastructure and applications to determine where cloud migration, modernization, or hybrid integration creates meaningful value.
  • Work directly with end users to understand business workflows and create processes, solutions, and automations to make them more efficient.
  • Design, implement, and support Azure and hybrid infrastructure with security, reliability, governance, and supportability built in from the start.

Description

This is a hands‑on role that requires balancing the needs of today with the architecture of tomorrow. You will move between operational engineering, business analyst, automation design, cloud planning, infrastructure as code, and longer‑term technology strategy. Success means solving immediate problems without creating tomorrow's problems, building solutions that are secure, repeatable, supportable, and aligned with our direction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Automate the provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of Azure and hybrid infrastructure, using infrastructure as code and repeatable deployment patterns to improve consistency, reduce risk, and make change easier.
  • Identify manual work hiding in our infrastructure and operations and find practical ways to eliminate it. We want automation that makes us faster and more reliable, not automation simply for the sake of automation.
  • Stay ahead of changes across the Microsoft ecosystem, particularly Azure, Microsoft 365, automation, and AI, and help us separate capabilities that can materially improve the business from those that are simply interesting.
Why this role Matters

This role connects business productivity with the infrastructure that makes it possible. It is key to the company leveraging key Microsoft services such as Sharepoint Online, Microsoft 365, and Copilot, while enabling a stronger ability to leverage elastic cloud resources. Done well, the work reduces manual effort, improves consistency and resilience, strengthens security, and helps teams adopt cloud and automation capabilities with confidence.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of hands‑on experience administering Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online and building or supporting Power Automate workflows and Power Apps solutions.
The Language You’ll Speak

You will not need to know every platform on day one, but you should be comfortable learning and working across the technologies that shape our Microsoft and infrastructure environment.

  • Microsoft 365 and productivity: SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Power Platform, Power Automate, Power Apps, governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Cloud and automation: Azure, hybrid integration, PowerShell, Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, source control, deployment automation, and infrastructure as code.
  • Infrastructure and operations: Nutanix, Windows Server, SolarWinds, monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, firewalls, VPNs, networking, patching, performance, and incident management.
  • Emerging capabilities: Microsoft Copilot, AI‑enabled automation, cloud modernization, and practical adoption of new Microsoft services.
Your Success Metrics

Success in this role will be measured by the answers to a few practical questions:

  • Are our business and technology processes becoming simpler, faster, and automated?
  • Are we getting greater value from Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online while making those environments more cost‑effective, secure, reliable, and performant?
  • Are our Azure and hybrid environments becoming more scalable, resilient, cost‑efficient, secure, and supportable?
  • Are we creating simpler, flexible, and reusable automation and infrastructure patterns instead of one‑time solutions?
  • Are our cloud migration and modernization decisions producing clear business and technical value?
  • Are our monitoring, backup, recovery, business continuity, and operational practices improving resilience and reducing risk?
  • Are we advancing the team's knowledge and effective use of Microsoft technologies, particularly Azure, automation, and AI, including Copilot?
Location
  • Position is remote and the location of candidate is flexible within the U.S.
