Job summary

Seagate Technology is seeking a Microscopy Engineer Intern to join the head failure analysis and microscopy characterization team at our R&D and Operations site in Bloomington, Minnesota. You will engage in physical failure analysis, design experiments, prepare and analyze materials using FIB, SEM, TEM, AFM, and other tools, and develop Python-based data analysis routines.

The role requires hands-on lab experience, excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to work independently in lab

Qualifications

• Experience operating FIB and TEM is required.
• Experience with sample preparation and materials analysis.
• Hands-on lab tool operations and troubleshooting.
• Data analysis in Python and documentation of results.

Responsibilities

• Engage in the physical failure analysis workflow used to characterize hard drive read/write heads.
• Design experiments to test properties of materials and interfaces.
• Prepare, characterize, and analyze materials and devices using microscopy and lab tools.
• Develop computational data analysis and visualization routines using Python.
