Job summary

Seagate Technology’s Failure Analysis team is seeking a Failure Analysis Engineering Specialist IV for the Bloomington, MN site. The role focuses on determining root causes through precision lab work and FIB-based sample prep, reporting findings to engineers, and expanding cross-functional skills.

You will operate precision lab equipment, collaborate with engineers, and progressively learn TEM/SEM tools while maintaining safe, organized workstations on a 2nd shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience with precision machinery operations in lab-based environments.
• Hands-on experience using FIB equipment or similar equipment.
• Ability to manipulate small components at slider, bar, HGA and TEM Lamella levels.
• Proficient with MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Related experience and technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering, analytical and communication skills to impact the bottom line.
• Support FIB sample preparation using the Helios 1200 FIB.
• Provide feedback to FIB engineer regarding sample issues.
• Learn other FIB equipment (Helios 5 & Nova FIB) along with TEM & SEM as required.
• Report to manager, engineers & team to manage processing of incoming requests independently.
• Follow safety instructions required, maintain clean workstations and safe work environment.
