Job summary

Scale Microgrids is seeking a dynamic analyst to support the Business Development team in Santa Monica. You will help turn identified opportunities into bankable microgrid projects, and assist in building scalable processes for rapid growth.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years in energy or utilities, a technical undergraduate degree, and intermediate Python and Excel skills. You will collaborate with engineering, finance, and project management to deliver value.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in energy, utilities, or a related industry.
• Energy project analysis experience is a plus.
• Comfortable using Python and Excel at an intermediate level.
• Thrive with minimal oversight in a fast-paced environment.
• Take ownership of projects and see them through to success.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate project economics based on utility savings, grid-services revenue, financing costs, etc.
• Optimize microgrid design, including solar, batteries, and generators, to generate attractive returns.
• Optimize the Distributed Energy Resources dispatch strategy based on load, rates, and DR programs.
• Use Scale's proprietary microgrid optimization platform.
• Use Scale's Python and spreadsheet-based tools.
• Assist the BD team with proposals, client calls, and presentations.
• Interface with SMS engineering, finance, and project management departments.
• Nurture relationships with internal peers and external partners.
• Help build a department key to the company’s rapid growth.
