  • Review and comment on engineering plans, relay settings, and documentation, ensuring compliance with utility standards and best practices.
  • Offer direction and recommendations on programming, configuration, and control logic without performing hands‑on implementation.
  • Support commissioning efforts by providing markup, feedback, and technical advice rather than direct execution.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, helping customers make informed decisions and ensuring system reliability through consultative support.

Eventually in this role, we see you doing:

  • Designing and implementing control protections and relay systems for microgrid applications.
  • Programming and configuring relay hardware and control devices directly.
  • Developing and troubleshooting ladder logic and other control schemes hands‑on.

  • Driving innovation and shaping our microgrid solutions as we expand into a more comprehensive service model.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong foundation in electrical theory, including voltage, frequency stability, and dynamic load behavior.
  • Expertise in blackstart procedures and the ability to model and analyze system performance during startup from an off state.
  • Understanding of ramp rate impacts on generators and loads, including implications for voltage and frequency control.
  • Electrical engineering principles for power systems and microgrids.
  • Control protections, relay systems, and utility interconnection standards.
  • Ladder logic and basic PLC programming concepts.
  • Programming and configuring relay hardware.
  • Reviewing engineering plans and relay files for compliance.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.

  • 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems or microgrid applications.
  • Hands‑on experience with control protections and relay systems, including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to program and configure relay hardware and interpret ladder logic for control systems.
  • Experience reviewing engineering plans, relay files, and utility interconnection requirements.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, PLC programming, and industry‑standard relay configuration tools.
