Job summary

Generac Power Systems is seeking a highly motivated Microgrid Controls Engineering Intern to join our Industrial Microgrid Controls Team in Fort Collins, Colorado for the summer of 2027. You will work with controls, software, and power systems engineers to analyze data from fielded microgrid deployments and help shape next-generation control strategies.

Responsibilities include building analytics, dashboards, and AI-based tools to enhance performance and reliability, and supporting MIL/HIL

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Energy Systems Engineering, Data Science, Applied Math or related technical discipline.
• Strong interest in data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or large-scale technical data analysis.
• Ability to clean, analyze, visualize, and interpret complex data sets.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze operational data from fielded microgrid deployments to identify trends and optimization opportunities.
• Develop advanced analytics, dashboards, and visualization tools for fleet insights and value.
• Explore AI-based approaches to predictive maintenance, fault detection, and root cause analysis.
• Support the validation of next-generation microgrid control architectures through MIL/HIL testing.
