Job summary

San José State University, in the College of Engineering, seeks a Microfabrication Technician and Facility Support Specialist to join the Microscale Process Engineering Laboratory (MPEL) at SJSU. Qualifications

• Three years of journey-level or skilled experience maintaining/repairing scientific or technical equipment.
• Experience with design modifications and fabrication of complex equipment or related instructional support.
• Familiarity with handling chemicals, safety paperwork, and waste management.

Responsibilities

• Ensure clean and safe equipment stations and work areas.
• Perform preventive maintenance and manage lab resources/consumables.
• Coordinate access, deliveries, and facility-related processes; supervise lab assistants.
• Develop and disseminate standard operating procedures and documentation.
• Interface with facilities to approve and complete laboratory projects.
• Lead work for equipment technicians focusing on BME/CME and student assistants.
