Job summary

San José State University’s College of Engineering seeks a Microfabrication Technician and Facility Support Specialist to join the Microscale Process Engineering Laboratory (MPEL) in the Engineering Building. The role ensures safe, clean stations, performs preventive maintenance, manages consumables, and coordinates support to education and research relying on hands-on microfabrication.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to three years of journey-level experience maintaining scientific or technical equipment in the assigned area.
• Apprenticeship, military specialization, or two years of related experience may substitute for part of the required experience.
• A valid driver's license is required and some positions may require Defensive Driver Training.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, clean equipment stations and work areas.
• Plan and perform preventive maintenance and manage consumables.
• Evaluate projects and materials; supervise lab assistants and document SOPs.
• Interface with Facilities Development & Operations for project approvals and completion.
• Maintain MC2 lab and coordinate equipment support.
