Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and participate in day-to-day production activities across material processing, QC workflows, capsuling, bottling, packaging, and inventory coordination.
  • Help plan daily production schedules to meet operational goals and customer demand.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing, and resource needs to keep production running efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day problem solving.
  • Escalate significant operational, staffing, or quality issues when appropriate.
  • Help maintain an organized, safe, and efficient production environment.
  • Directly supervise the stool donation pickup driver team.
  • Coordinate driver schedules, route coverage, and daily collection logistics.
  • Ensure timely donor pickups and reliable transport of microbiome material.
  • Reinforce SOPs, safety procedures, documentation requirements, and chain-of-custody practices.
  • Train and onboard new driver team members.
  • Coordinate closely with production staff to align donor collections with daily processing needs.
  • Serve as the operational lead when the Manager is unavailable.
  • Help maintain continuity during PTO, schedule changes, and unexpected staffing challenges.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented team environment.
  • Coordinate closely with Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, and other cross-functional teams to support successful operations.

Job description

Animal Biome is a leader in companion animal microbiome therapeutics, developing innovative microbiome-based products that improve the health of dogs and cats. As demand continues to grow, we’re looking for a Supervisor for our Microbiome Operations Team to help lead the daily execution of our production operations.

This is a hands‑on operational leadership role. You will work alongside the Manager of Microbiome Operations to coordinate daily activities for our fecal microbiome transplant (FMT) production team. This includes physical processing of pet donor stool samples, operating and maintaining dedicated equipment for supplement manufacturing, preparing final customer‑facing products, and QC of raw material as well as finished goods, which are distributed to pet parents and veterinarians across the world. Additionally, this role involves keeping workflows running smoothly, solving operational challenges, and helping ensure our team consistently delivers high‑quality products. You’ll also directly supervise our stool donation pickup driver team, ensuring reliable donor collection and seamless coordination between field logistics and production.

What You’ll Do
Lead Daily Operations

  • Reinforce adherence to SOPs, quality standards, and documentation requirements.
  • Support quality control activities and routine workflow verification.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, organization, and operational reliability.
  • Assist with implementation of process improvements as the department continues to scale.
Provide Operational Leadership
  • Serve as the operational lead when the Manager of Microbiome Operations is unavailable.
  • Help maintain continuity during PTO, schedule changes, and unexpected staffing challenges.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented team environment.
  • Coordinate closely with Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, and other cross-functional teams to support successful operations.
Qualifications
Required
  • Experience leading or coordinating operations in biotechnology, manufacturing, food production, veterinary, laboratory, logistics, or other fast-paced production environments.
  • Previous experience supervising operational staff, logistics personnel, or production support teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and sound operational judgment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and process consistency.
  • Comfortable working in a hands‑on operational environment.
Preferred
  • Experience in microbiology, microbiome science, biologics, veterinary biotechnology, food production, or related fields.
  • Experience coordinating production floor operations in a growing organization.
  • Experience supporting operational scaling, workflow optimization, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • A hands‑on leadership style with a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
  • Comfort working in a collaborative, mission-driven, and nontraditional microbiome production environment.
Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Manager of Microbiome Operations.

The Supervisor provides day‑to‑day operational leadership and directly supervises the stool donation pickup driver team. Production staff continue to report directly to the Manager of Microbiome Operations.

The Manager retains responsibility for overall team leadership, hiring, performance management, employee development, strategic planning, and final operational decision-making. The Supervisor focuses on daily execution, workflow coordination, floor leadership, driver supervision, operational troubleshooting, and maintaining production continuity.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $66,100–$81,100 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
