HCA Healthcare is seeking a Microbiology Technologist to perform stat and routine microbiology and serology testing under supervision. The role emphasizes specimen processing, quality control, and adherence to regulatory standards to deliver accurate results.

The candidate will participate in accreditation processes, support training, and communicate critical results while maintaining patient confidentiality and safety in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry.
• National Certification as Medical Technologist (AMT/ASCP) or must obtain within one year of hire; state license where required.
• Specialist in Microbiology certification is desired; CLIA testing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform stat and routine microbiology, serology, and infectious disease testing with precision.
• Ensure timely specimen processing and adherence to testing protocols.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure peak performance.
• Apply laboratory knowledge with independent judgment to ensure accurate results.
• Troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Maintain quality control and quality assurance documentation and procedures.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives and accreditation activities.
• Assist in orientation, training, and competency documentation of staff.
• Communicate emergency/critical results to physicians promptly.
• Prepare and examine specimens using microscopy and culture microorganisms from clinical samples.
