Job summary

ProHealth Care is hiring a Clinical Laboratory Assistant – Microbiology Technician to accurately receive, process, and distribute specimens in Microbiology. You will perform waived and non-waived testing, prepare Gram smears, and manage culture setup and transport to the reference lab.

You will collaborate with nurses, pharmacists, and physicians to ensure timely results. The role requires a high school diploma (Phlebotomy/MA training preferred) and ASCP Phlebotomy Certification is advantageous.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of approved Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program preferred.
• ASCP Phlebotomy Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives, processes, and distributes specimens accurately and efficiently.
• Performs and results waived and non-waived testing in Microbiology.
• Label specimens correctly and manage workflow priorities including Stat requests.
• Load specimens on analyzers and perform culture setup including media selection and inoculation.
• Prepare Gram smear slides and transport specimens to reference lab per policy.
• Document workloads and results in the PHC Lab Information System.
• Ensure quality control and report issues to laboratory leadership.
