Job summary

Littleton Regional Healthcare (LRH) invites applications for the Microbiology Lead. This full-time role in Littleton, NH, will oversee bench microbiology work, ensure procedures are up-to-date, and lead a team of Medical Technologists and Technicians in delivering accurate patient results.

The candidate should have 4 years of experience in high and moderate complexity testing, and a BS preferred or an AS degree with experience. ASCP or equivalent certification is required.

Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in High and Moderate Complexity Testing.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; an Associate degree with experience accepted.
• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform all functions of a Medical Technologist; bench technologist when workload warrants.
• Assume responsibility for specific laboratory department(s) and ensure manuals/equipment are available.
• Write/revise procedures in assigned lab area for presentation to leadership; ensure current guidelines.
• Confer with Laboratory Director to modify procedures; implement changes as appropriate.
• Review daily laboratory results for accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to guidelines.
• Maintain a Quality Control program and take corrective actions as needed.
• Review maintenance/QC/troubleshooting logs to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Resolve technical problems and ensure test systems meet performance specifications.
• Ensure patient test results are not reported until corrective actions are complete.
• Orient/train new staff and develop others' skills; answer technical questions.
• Assess staff competency and ensure timely, accurate reporting of results.
• Provide input on staff performance appraisals to Administrative Director.
• Supervise staff of Medical Technologists and Technicians.
