Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a Laboratory Technologist in Microbiology for the morning shift (8:00am–4:00pm) with potential weekend rotation. You will perform routine and complex tests on clinical specimens, troubleshoot instruments, and participate in quality control.

A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology and NYS licensure are required; ASCP certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology is required or equivalent experience.
• New York State licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist is required.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex tests on clinical specimens in microbiology.
• Troubleshoot instruments and methods; calibrate and maintain lab instrumentation.
• Perform quality control procedures and assist in evaluating new equipment, reagents and methodologies.
• Research and establish new procedures to improve laboratory operations.

Here you'll have the opportunity to conduct routine and complex tests on clinical specimens in various areas of the laboratory in microbiology. Troubleshoot instruments and methods. Perform all quality control procedures and assist in the evaluation of new equipment, reagents and methodologies. Calibrate and maintain lab instrumentation. Research and establish new procedures to improve laboratory operations.

Morning shift opportunity is currently available in the Microbiology Department Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm., with alternate weekends and rotating holidays.

Required Criteria

A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent experience) New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department

Salary Range

$52.61-$65.45/Hourly
