Job summary

Labcorp, a global leader in laboratory services, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the Birmingham, AL team. You will determine specimen acceptability, perform tests per SOPs, monitor instrumentation and help ensure accurate results for patient care.

The role emphasizes teamwork, independence, and attention to detail in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment, with overtime flexibility as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits may meet education requirements if they meet CLIA standards.
• Understanding of laboratory operations, policies and procedures.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions per SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation for proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
