The role includes developing staff, conducting evaluations, generating SOPs, and coordinating with QA, Production and Validation to meet release goals; proactive investigations of deviations are required, with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily activities of scientists and technicians.
• Hires and oversees training of department personnel.
• Conducts performance evaluations.
• Ensures monitoring and testing programs for materials and products are executed.
• Establishes goals for product release and project performance.
• Generates and revises SOPs for Microbiology tests.
• Investigates non-conforming materials and results and evaluates impact.
• Reviews department work for accuracy and conformance.
• Mentors and develops new staff, trains on SOPs and checklists.
• Ensures equipment is calibrated and supplies are available.
• Oversees investigations of deviations and non-conformances.
• Collaborates with Production, QA, Chemistry, Maintenance, Metrology and Validation.
• Oversees qualification/requalification programs for staff.
• Represents the department in cross-functional teams.
