Job summary

The Laboratory Scientist at the University of Kentucky will handle specimen processing, triage, and rapid testing in a Level I trauma center laboratory. You'll perform gram stains, report positive cultures, and support molecular assays.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in MLS/Microbiology/Biology, strong multi-tasking and teamwork, and adherence to CAP-accredited lab standards. This on-site position offers full-time hours, Monday–Friday with rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, or Biology.
• Experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory preferred.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills; ability to multi-task and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens, triage, and order processing.
• Perform rapid and stat testing, gram staining, and report positive blood cultures.
• Perform multiplex and routine molecular assays.
• Handle media QC and monitor/stock supplies.
• Report digital culture images.
