Job summary

Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Laboratory Technologist for the day shift in the Clinical Lab. The role involves performing a range of hematology, chemistry, and blood bank tests with emphasis on accuracy, quality control, and adherence to CLIA standards.

ASCP certification and at least two years hospital lab experience are preferred; a Bachelor’s degree in health science or Medical Laboratory Technology and state licensure may be required.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum two years hospital laboratory work experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology or CLIA equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived to highly complex tests as authorized by CLIA and CFR 493.1425/1495/1463.
• Ensure proper collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient results.
• Maintain quality control and document corrective actions for test systems.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues, escalate to supervisor when needed.
• Perform instrumentation maintenance and verify result accuracy prior to release.
• Possibly perform venipuncture on varied age groups and assist in policy development.
