Job summary

Piping Rock Health Products, INC is seeking a Microbiologist II to test a wide range of products, report results, and mentor fellow team members in a GMP environment.

The role requires a bachelor in Microbiology or Biology with 5+ years of experience or a Master’s with 3+ years, and knowledge of PET, environmental testing, and preparatory testing. Occasional Saturdays may be required based in New York.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Microbiology (preferred) or Biology with 5+ years of experience, or a Master’s with 3+ years.
  • Pharmaceutical/Dietary supplement industry experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of PET, Environmental Testing and Preparatory testing is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with electronic laboratory management systems is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work occasional Saturdays.
  • Must comply with GMP requirements and related training.

Job description

We are seeking a talented candidate with a passion for the health and wellness industry. We are in search for someone who is passionate about microbiology and is looking to develop their skills. The Microbiologist II will play an integral role in our team by testing wide range of products and reporting results, training and mentoring fellow team members, providing status and reports to the laboratory manager.

Responsibilities
  • Performs routine testing of samples according to established procedures.
  • This may involve collecting specialized samples in various production areas.
  • Sets up and dismantles instruments and apparatus. Prepares solutions, suspensions and media to perform essential laboratory procedures
  • Makes and records observations, performs calculations, collects and may assist in preparing data for evaluation. Keeps supervisor informed of work status.
  • Reports results of assignments and maintains and performs related record keeping in compliance with approved regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements. Follows and complies with all appropriate operations and testing procedures, GMPs and safety and health requirements as applicable.
  • Demonstrates good housekeeping practices to minimize analytical mix ups, potential laboratory contamination and safety hazards.
  • As required participates in conducting investigational studies of atypical results.
  • As required, maintains laboratory standards or cultures
  • Periodically performs duties of a higher position for the purpose of training and development
  • Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year College or University in Microbiology (preferred) or Biology with 5+ years of professional experience or a Master’s Degree with 3+ years of experience.
  • Prior experience in Pharmaceutical/Dietary supplement industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with PET, Environmental Testing and Preparatory testing is required.
  • Computer knowledge with Microsoft Office is required
  • Prior experience with electronic laboratory management system is preferred.
  • Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work occasional Saturdays.
  • Must comply with GMP requirements; specific functions and documents will be discussed in GMP and on the job training
Role’s Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours
  • Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment
