Job summary

ATC in Indianapolis is seeking a Microbiologist to coordinate and perform tests for SARS-CoV-2 and other targets in wastewater and water samples. You will examine samples, record results, and report findings while maintaining safety and QC standards.

The role requires a BS in biological sciences, RNA/DNA extraction and PCR experience, knowledge of molecular methods, and the ability to prepare clear laboratory reports while adhering to state and federal guidelines.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in a biological science is required.
• Experience performing RNA/DNA extraction and PCR testing is required.
• Knowledge of molecular testing principles, theories, and practices.
• Knowledge of current molecular testing methods and procedures.
• Ability to use molecular and standard laboratory equipment.
• Ability to compile, analyze, evaluate and prepare lab reports.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety practices and principles.
• Familiarity with applicable state and federal regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to maintain productive relationships.
• Ability to participate in proficiency testing programs.

Responsibilities

Job description

As the Microbiologist, you are responsible for coordinating and performing tests for SARS-CoV-2 and other targets of public health concern in wastewater and water samples. Duties include sample examination and analyses, recording, interpreting, and result reporting of test results. You are responsible for completing all required Quality Control, compliance with all certification requirements, and maintaining all required safety standards. Work hours are Monday - Friday, 7.5 work hour day.

A Day in the Life:

• Conduct wastewater sample concentration, RNA extraction and PCR molecular testing.
• Maintain laboratory record system of submitted samples.
• Evaluate, interpret, and validate laboratory results.
• Conduct quality control checks on laboratory methods, materials, and equipment.
• Assists with preparation of reports from data compiled.
• Participate in evaluation of new products used in environmental laboratory work.

What You'll Need for Success:
