Job summary

College of DuPage is seeking a Micro Technician Aide (SC4MTECHSOCT) student worker to support PC repair teams and install/ troubleshoot computer systems. The role requires enrollment in at least 6 credit hours with a minimum 2.0 GPA, and eligibility for Federal Work Study. Hours are flexible, and a toolkit is provided.

The student will work with PC repair technicians, assist with DOS-related tasks, and contribute to various technology projects across departments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Student job eligibility criteria and enrollment requirements.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semesters or 1 credit hour for Summer.
  • GPA 2.0 or above; first-semester GPA waiver applies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist PC Repair Technicians in hardware repair and installations.
  • Troubleshoot, install OS, and take inventory on new computer installations.
  • Assist AV Repair Technicians and other technical staff on projects as needed.

Micro Technician Aide, SC4MTECHSOCT (FA26)
Student Worker Eligibility

Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester. Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived. If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Assists PC Repair Technicians.

  • Assist the FT PC Repair Technicians in computer hardware repair and installations.
  • This includes troubleshooting, OS installation, taking inventory on new computer installations.
  • Also may assist the AV Repair Technicians, the Police Department Technical Specialist and Homeland Security Education Center Technology on projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Education
    • THIS IS A STUDENT JOB.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
    • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.

  • Experience
    • Basic knowledge of microcomputer hardware and software required.
    • A good understanding of DOS and some coursework in data processing required.

    • Compliance Training
Working Conditions
  • Tool kit provided by IT.
  • Physical work with some lifting up to 50 lbs. and must climb stairs and ladders for testing computer cables.
  • Hours: Flexible.
  • This student position requires the following test/tests: Physical, Background Check.
Pay Rate

Student Rate 2 - $15.80 per hour
