Job summary

STERIS in Mentor, Ohio, is seeking a Micro-Assembly Technician to build precise medical device components using hand tools and bench-top pneumatic presses, aiming to meet throughput targets in an FDA-regulated cleanroom environment.

You will visually inspect very small parts for quality, escalate issues to the Team Lead, perform changeovers, replenish materials, and document Device History Records (DHRs); follow shop practices and PPE rules, and contribute ideas via the Ideas Program.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of small-parts assembly experience.
  • Experience with crimping and gluing small components.
  • Experience in material replenishment on a production line.
  • Experience performing in-process inspections.
  • Experience setting up auto baggers and printers.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble medical device components using hand tools and bench-top pneumatic presses at or above target throughput.
  • Visually assess and handle very small parts for quality during manufacturing.
  • Escalate production, parts, equipment, or process concerns to the Team Lead promptly.
  • Operate required production equipment safely and effectively.
  • Follow Shop Practices, including cleanroom gowning, PPE use, and standard work.
  • Submit Safety Observations and propose improvements via the Ideas Program.
  • Maintain the Hour by Hour Board and complete Pareto charts.
  • Meet quality standards, complete DHRs accurately, and conduct Process Monitoring.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Micro-Assembly Technician, Medical DevicesAt STERIS, our purpose is to help create a healthier, safer world through innovative products and services for healthcare and life sciences.A day in this roleYou arrive at our FDA-regulated cleanroom, complete proper gowning, and step to your station. With hand tools and bench-top pneumatic presses, you build precise medical device components, keeping a steady pace that meets or exceeds production goals. Throughout the shift, you inspect small parts, flag anything out of spec, and keep your Team Lead informed of equipment or process issues. You update the Hour by Hour Board, create Pareto charts, and record Device History Records (DHRs) while performing Process Monitoring. You replenish materials, complete changeovers for parts and equipment, and configure auto baggers and printers for new orders.
