Job summary

Michigan Innovation Headquarters in Ann Arbor is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to ensure smooth operations of MI-HQ Ann Arbor buildings. Responsibilities include coordinating and scheduling maintenance, updating the Buildium system, and performing routine repairs.

Candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs, use a ladder safely, and conduct daily safety inspections. The role covers interior and exterior maintenance tasks, lawn and grounds upkeep, and occasional weekend on-call duties

• Promote safety through awareness and report to Safety Officer & Owner as needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule maintenance with the Office & Maintenance staff, prioritizing tasks based on urgency.
• Enter Building Maintenance repairs into Buildium Maintenance program.
• Complete maintenance tasks as assigned and update records.
• Supervise daily dock consolidation disposal and break down boxes and remove pallets from docks.
• Monitor exterior grounds, lawns, curbs, and garbage cans for maintenance needs.
• Assist in periodic construction tasks and cleaning for tenant move-out.

Job description

• Ensure smooth operations of MI-HQ Ann Arbor buildings

Coordinate and schedule maintenance with the Office & Maintenance staff, prioritize tasks based on urgency

• Complete Maintenance tasks as assigned and update Buildium Maintenance software

Enter Building Maintenance repairs as observed into Buildium Maintenance program

• Equipment movement, installation, assembly, lab modifications
• Perform building routine maintenance (refer to MI-HQ maintenance checklist)
• Keep maintenance charts up to date
• Areas of responsibility
• Paint repair in high traffic areas
• Walls - patch, paint, frame, hang shelving and whiteboards
• Plumbing - leak repairs, replacements, installations, sump pumps
• Lab features - Cabinets, ventilation hoods, compressed air
• Supervise daily dock consolidation disposal
• Break down boxes and remove pallets from docks
• Monitor exterior grounds, lawns, curbs, and garbage cans for maintenance needs
• Assist in periodic construction tasks and cleaning for tenant move-out
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and use a ladder safely
• Conduct a daily visual inspection (interior and exterior) to maintain a safe environment
• Secondary emergency contact: power loss, flooding, emergency weather, and fire
• Promote safety through awareness, report to Safety Officer & Owner as needed
• Conduct a walk-through/security check for Ann Arbor Buildings daily
• Weekend On Call in rotation with other staff for various buildings
