Job summary

Fairview Health Services in Princeton offers a Mental Health/Alcohol and Drug Counselor trainee role focused on adolescents with mental health and addiction concerns. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to plan and provide therapy, coordinate discharge planning, and educate families.

The position emphasizes treatment planning, communication, and adherence to evidence-based practices, with participation in supervision and clinical development within Behavioral Health services.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, nursing, or closely related field.
• 1 year of supervised experience in mental health and chemical dependency including assessment, individual, group, and family therapy.
• Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) license required.
• LMFT or LPCC licensure eligibility or independent licensure path.
• Two years or more of mental health and chemical dependency experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support adolescents with Mental health and Addiction concerns as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Determine clinical interventions for MI and/or SUD and facilitate therapy.
• Develop transition/discharge plans and coordinate treatment planning with the team.
• Conduct group therapy, family therapy, and psycho-education sessions.
• Maintain CPR readiness and participate in Behavior Control Situations when required.

Job description

Job Overview

MI/CD psychotherapist trainee role is located at Fairview Princeton Hospital. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting adolescents with Mental health and Addiction concerns and their families.

Determines clinical interventions for MI and or SUD issues, facilitates therapy and provides education for patients and their families. Facilitates treatment planning and manages each case. Responsible for development of transition/discharge plan. Communicates effectively and respectfully with others, including interdisciplinary team and all other contacts. Functions as an interdisciplinary team member. Accepts supervision and consultation with a licensed supervisor for the functions of this position in their clinical practice.

Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

• Demonstrates the ability to advance evidence-based practice by utilizing standards, guidelines and pathways for care delivery. Incorporates data and information into practice to continually improve care and practice so that patient outcomes are enhanced.
• Promotes a culture of evidence-based practice by participation in any of, but not limited to, the following activities:
  • Utilizing evidence-based policies in clinical practice
  • Attends and participates in learning opportunities about evidence-based practice
  • Membership in hospital or department councils
  • Evidence based practice project (e.g. policy development or poster presentation)
  • Development of standard/pathway/guideline for patient care
  • Presentation
  • Research study

• For Behavioral Inpatient units, responds and participates in Behavior Control Situations (BCS), and for both Behavioral Inpatient and Outpatient units, performs CPR.

Minimum Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities

Required

Education

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, nursing, or closely related field.

Experience

• 1 year of supervised experience in mental health and chemical dependency including comprehensive assessment, individual, group, and family therapy.

License/Certification/Registration

• Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC).
• LGSW or eligible for independent clinical licensure as a LMFT or LPCC

Preferred

Experience

• 2 or more years of experience in mental health and chemical dependency.
