Job summary

Care New England Health System seeks a part-time mental health worker to cover 1:1 and designated acuity shifts on the Lippitt 2 Adult Inpatient Intensive Treatment Unit at Butler Hospital. The role emphasizes patient advocacy, daily living support, and a safe therapeutic environment.

The candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication, with a preferred CNA license (2% differential). Schedule is 20/40 Part Time Nights, every other weekend.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences preferred; behavioral health experience may substitute for degree.
• Experience working with mentally ill and/or developmentally delayed clients.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• CNA preferred with a 2% pay differential for active CNA license.
• Schedule: 20/40 Part Time Nights - Every Other Weekend; Lippitt 2 is an Adult Inpatient ICU.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient advocate role through standards of performance and meeting patient needs for service.
• Assist RNs in direct patient care, focusing on activities of daily living.
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit through observation and interaction.
• Participate in group activities and support self-development related to the role.
• Cover 1:1 and/or designated acuity shifts; reabsorbed to float pool when no acuity needs.

Assists registered nurses in direct care of patients, specifically patients’ activities of daily living. Insures a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit through observation monitoring, interacting and providing/assisting in groups.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Consistently adheres to Butler Hospital service standards.
• Provides role as patient advocate through his/ /her own role modeling of standards of performance and by communicating and meeting patients' needs for service.
• Assists registered nurses in direct care of patients, specifically patients’ activities of daily living.
• Insures a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit through observation monitoring, interacting and providing/assisting in groups.
• Commits to self-development as it pertains to the role of mental health worker.

This position is primarily assigned to cover 1:1 and/or designated acuity shifts on the inpatient units. In the event that there are no 1:1 or designated acuity needs for a given shift, the employee will be reabsorbed into the float pool and assigned to cover other needs in the Hospital.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in any of the social sciences preferred and/or comparable behavioral health experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
