Shalom House Inc. in Southern Maine (Saco & Biddeford) seeks a Residential Support Worker to provide daily encouragement to adults living with chronic mental health challenges.

You will assist with routines, activities, and safe, respectful care in a supportive home. You will work with a team of case managers and health professionals to promote independence and community involvement, with MHRT-1 certification welcomed and training offered.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience supporting individuals with mental health diagnoses.
• MHRT-1 certification welcomed; training provided.

About the Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you'll be a daily source of encouragement and stability for adults living with chronic and persistent mental health challenges. Whether it’s helping with daily routines, joining in a group outing, or simply sharing a conversation over coffee, you’ll play a vital role in helping our residents live more independently and confidently.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting residents with daily living activities (meals, prompting for personal care, chores, etc.)
• Building trust and connection in a warm, respectful home environment
• Encouraging independence, growth, and community involvement
• Collaborating with a team of case managers, therapists, and health professionals
• Participating in fun activities like art projects, game nights, and outings
• Assisting with medication management and helping keep everyone safe
• Being present during moments of challenge—and celebration

What We’re Looking For

• A high school diploma or equivalent required. Degree in social work, psych, or similar field is a plus!
• At least one year of experience supporting individuals with mental health diagnoses—especially those with more chronic or persistent challenges
• A big heart, strong communication skills, and a team‑player attitude
• Comfort working independently and being flexible with your schedule (evenings/weekends/holidays)
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• MHRT-1 certified? Great! Not yet? We’ll help you get there.
• Starting at $23.10/hr
• $23.65/hr with MHRT-1 certification
