Job summary

Sysco Alaska is seeking a Material Handling Equipment Technician I to assist with maintenance of MHE and industrial batteries at our Anchorage facility. You will support senior technicians, learn controls, electrical and hydraulic systems, and perform preventive maintenance on the fleet.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of maintenance experience preferred, and a valid driver’s license. On-site work includes lifting up to 100 pounds, varied conditions, and on-call hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• Two years in an MHE maintenance position preferred.
• Valid state driver's license and liability coverage required.
• Complete Sysco defensive driving program and obtain MHE certification within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance activities on material handling equipment and industrial batteries.
• Learn controls and electrical (AC/DC) low voltage; perform small electrical repairs and welding as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance on MHE fleet: oil levels, belts, chains, motors, and controls.
• Learn hydraulic, electrical, and PLC systems and troubleshoot issues.
• Help with battery maintenance, charging equipment, and acid spill cleanup.
• Log time and materials into CMMS daily; maintain clean, safe work areas.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in safety program; travel as needed.
