Patrick & Henry Community College is seeking Youth Mentors to support middle and high school participants through engaging activities that foster positive youth development. Mentors work with instructors to facilitate daily programs and collect participation data for program evaluation, creating a safe and motivating learning environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, strong communication, and dedication to student success in a part-time, after-school setting in Martinsville.

Qualifications

• Interest in providing positive youth mentoring experiences for middle and high school youth.
• Demonstrated proficiency in computer operating systems, data management, spreadsheet, internet and email as well as other applications necessary for specific program delivery.
• Ability to successfully work in a team environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, maintain accurate and timely records, and meet deadlines.
• Experience working with diverse populations.

Job Description

Patrick & Henry Community College is a comprehensive two-year institution committed to student success, lifelong learning, and enrichment of the quality of life in the region it serves. Serving Martinsville, Henry County, Patrick County, and the southern portion of Franklin County, P& HCC is a comprehensive open-door institution, accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the associate degree. Position Summary:

Mentors are responsible for serving as highly engaged youth mentors who actively engage and educate middle and high school participants in a variety of interactive and engaging experiences that contribute positively to youth development. Mentors also create and support environments that are safe, healthy, and conducive to student learning.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
