Overview

The Gorman Cardiovascular Research Lab is seeking a Project Manager to lead the implementation and oversight of complex research in cardiovascular disease using porcine and ovine models, as well as clinical trials in patients within the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) and the Department of Surgery. The Project Manager is responsible for operationalizing study protocols, procedures, managing recruitment, screening, enrollment, and follow-up for study subjects. The role includes providing training and supervision to research coordinators and research assistants, ensuring staff compliance with institutional offices, and reporting study progress.

Responsibilities

Operationalize study protocols and procedures for research projects in animals and humans.
Manage recruitment, screening, enrollment, and follow-up for study subjects.
Provide training and supervision to research coordinators and research assistants.
Ensure staff compliance with applicable institutional offices across the University of Pennsylvania.
Manage study reports and findings; collaborate with multiple PIs and study leadership to plan, implement procedures, collect and monitor data, and report progress.
Perform and/or supervise a wide range of activities in both research animals and patients enrolled in clinical research studies.
Perform and/or supervise anesthesia services for research animals; act as anesthesia overseer as needed; provide on-call coverage (evenings, weekends, holidays) 365 days/year as required; train associated researchers in designated tasks.
Oversee record keeping, computer data entry, equipment maintenance, and stocking of the work area.
Engage in continual self-education through reading, rounds, lectures, and current publications.
