Ingalls Shipbuilding seeks a seasoned procurement professional to source machinery, equipment, and materials, analyze price trends, and manage supplier relationships. You will prepare bids, negotiate terms, and ensure on-time delivery while maintaining accurate records.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and substantial progressive experience; a master’s degree plus 4 years is advantageous. Hybrid telework is available, with relocation not provided.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent) plus 6+ years progressive experience.
  • Master's degree with 4+ years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Sources and purchases machinery, equipment, tools, raw materials, packaging, parts and services for operations.
  • Compiles and analyzes data to determine feasibility of purchasing products and price objectives.
  • Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers and maintains records.
  • Executes bids, follows up orders, verifies delivery and approves payments.

The Role

Sources and purchases machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services, and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization. Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives. Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records. May prepare bid packages.

Must Have

Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline (or the equivalent in education, training and experience), plus a minimum of 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's degree and 4 years relevant experience.
