Job summary

St. Mary’s Hospital - Kankakee seeks a Manager of Oncology (Registered Nurse) to assume 24-hour administrative responsibility for nursing services in assigned units and to oversee patient care delivery. You will supervise staff, implement performance improvements, and ensure compliance with regulations, reporting to the CNO/DON.

Effective communication with staff, physicians, and administration is essential to meet patient needs and maintain high-quality care in a dynamic oncology department.

Qualifications

• Must hold current and valid state RN license.
• BLS upon hire and maintain.
• ACLS within 30 days of hire and maintain.
• Minimum of two years supervisory/management experience.
• Minimum of three years of continuous clinical experience in acute care.
• BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

The Manager of Oncology is a Registered Nurse who assumes 24-hour administrative responsibility for the management of all nursing service functions in assigned units. Supervises, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the delivery of patient care. Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current regulations. Supervises and evaluates all personnel assigned to the unit and effectively utilizes nursing personnel, time responsibilities for the unit and is directly accountable to the CNO/DON. Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, and administration both written and verbally. Consults with staff, physicians and Nurse Executive on nursing issues and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met.

Education, Experience, Training

• Must have a current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS upon hire and maintain current.
• ACLS within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• A minimum of two years supervisory/management experience necessary.
• Minimum of three years of continuous clinical experience in a clinical/acute care setting.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred.
