Job summary

Doctors Hospital of Laredo in Laredo, TX, is a 183-bed acute care facility offering a range of medical services. The Clinical Unit Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of their unit and must provide timely, safe, compassionate care for all patients on their unit.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating with physicians and management, coaching and educating team members, maintaining a risk-free environment, and pursuing ongoing performance improvement.

Qualifications

• Texas RN license required and active.
• Previous charge or supervisory experience required.
• Management experience preferred.
• BLS/ACLS certifications required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Refer to Nursing Policy IV-F.3.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the unit and provide direct patient care as needed.
• Communicate with physicians and management to resolve issues quickly.
• Coach, educate and counsel all staff members regularly.
• Maintain a risk-free environment and drive ongoing performance improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Unit Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of their unit. The Clinical Unit Manager must effectively provide timely, safe, compassionate care for all patients of their unit.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Oversees that all staff members carry out their duties safely, timely, compassionately and efficiently including providing patient care directly as necessary.
2. Directly communicates with physicians and other members of management to resolve conflict or other issues quickly and effectively.
3. Responsible for timely evaluation, coaching, educating and counseling of all staff members.
4. Responsible for maintaining a risk free environment on their unit as well as ongoing performance improvement.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.
