Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit is seeking a medical admin professional with weekend evening availability.

Lunder 6 is a 22-bed adult Neuroscience ICU that cares for critically ill patients who have a range of neurological diagnoses such as neurotrauma, status epilepticus, stroke and spinal cord injury.

Schedule

Every Saturday and Sunday (3pm- 11pm)

Must do rotating Holiday schedule

Applicants for this position must be able to work every weekend evening shift coverage time in order to be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

Provides administrative support to unit-based and hospital-wide clinicians and staff in an inpatient unit, functioning as the liaison between the patient, visitors and the clinicians. Expected to effectively organize priorities, complete tasks on time and manage confidential patient information. Responsible for partnering with nursing to coordinate the day-to-day patient flow including communication to key players regarding patient admissions, discharges and transfers. Also expected to provide outstanding services for every customer interaction. Actual job duties may vary by department. This position does not require Patient Care.

Essential Functions
  1. Performs clerical and other duties to assist in the general administration of the floor or unit.
  2. Greets and interacts with patients, families, visitors and coworkers in person and via communication tools in a professional manner.
  3. Receives, prioritizes, organizes and manages information at the central nursing station, and throughout the unit.
  4. Schedules consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transport to other departments.
  5. Enters into electronic medical record accurate and timely information about admissions, discharges and transfers to facilitate efficient patient throughput.
  6. Contacts ancillary service departments to obtain equipment, services and supplies; tracks status and location; uses designated process for identifying and facilitating repairs.
  7. May assist manager with payroll duties or scheduling of staff, or supervision of unit secretaries. Duties may vary by department.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Related Field of Study preferred.

Experience: Administrative support experience 2-3 years required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  1. Proficiency with office procedures and equipment i.e. filing, copying, scanning, printing and faxing.
  2. Proficiency in MS Office.
  3. Ability to proofread and edit written documents.
  4. Ability to use phone system.
  5. Managing one's own time and the time of others.
  6. Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  7. Strong interpersonal, written and oral skills.
  8. Ability to use standard office equipment.
  9. Familiarity with medical terminology.
